June 2006 - Lake Shore [Mike, Sam, Rob S, Rob D]

title: Lake Shore
artist: Mike, Sam, Rob S, Rob D
company: Uniform
website: www.uniform.net
location: Liverpool
software: 3ds Max 8, V-Ray, REALVIZ, MatchMover, Combustion, Premiere

This is not a marketing movie but was used to convince planners to give the scheme the go-ahead. Modeled and rendered in Max using V-Ray, tracked in MatchMover, composited in Combustion and finally edited in Premiere. The project took 8 weeks from the pitch, storyboarding, client back and forth, filming right down to the last DVD. The particles were all done inside Max. My colleague Sam had dynamics, wind effects and drag effects to make the dust get pulled in the vacuum left by the falling blocks. This project had no more than 3 people working on it at any one time. With a larger team we could drop people in for specific tasks and still kept our other projects on the go. Definitely a team effort.

This is very impresive work! Not just the skills presented and good architecture behind it, but original concept of the architectural presentation, great lip from banality into the lively, even humoruous glance in the urban develpment.
Way to go guys! I find this work better and more inspirative than some large studios animations... I am sure this will bring you awards and recognition in near future...

Fantastic. The motion tracking works very well, especially when considering the steel structure is already there.

Not sure how you animated all the geometry, but it works really well.
